The IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con International 2024 took place across August 29th and 30th, 2024 and the results featured some of the best gi grapplers in the world. The biggest prize in the men’s division was split between two teammates representing Alliance Jiu-Jitsu, as Marcus Ribeiro and Guilherme Augusto closed out the final in both the ultra-heavyweight and absolute divisions. The super-heavyweight and heavyweight divisions also featured quite a few big names, and they were won by Paulo Merlin and Horlando Monteiro respectively. Wellington Sebastiao won the last of the heavier weight classes, as he took home the gold medal at medium-heavyweight.
There was plenty of action in the lighter weight classes too, with Keven Carrasco winning a particularly tough light-featherweight division. Zach Kaina won the next bracket at featherweight, while Richar Nogueira was crowned the lightweight champion. The women’s brackets were equally stacked too, perhaps most notably at featherweight. That’s where top prospect Cassia Moura made her black belt debut and beat several elite competitors in order to take home the gold medal. Emily Ferreira also stood out for winning the middleweight division, but they were far from the only flawless performances from female competitors.
Gabrieli Pessanha delivered the best results of the entire IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con International 2024, as she won a pair of gold medals at super-heavyweight and in the absolute. There were great runs in the lightweight and light-featherweight brackets too, as Janaina Lebre and Ana Carolina Lima won those divisions respectively. Even the smaller divisions had their fair share of big names, with Melissa Stricker winning a three-woman bracket at heavyweight. Leticia Cardozo won the only match at medium-heavyweight, while Mariana Rolszt was the champion in the two-woman roosterweight division. There was plenty of high-level grappling everywhere at the event and no doubt it will have a sizeable impact on the rankings.
