IBJJF brown belt World Champion Pedro Marinho is one of the brightest stars to come out of Gracie Barra in recent years, and the newly promoted black belt has already made a run at the ADCC World Championships too. Marinho announced the news of his recent promotion alongside that of his long-time girlfriend and fellow GB competitor Victoria Montrezor in a post on his official Instagram account where he gave the following statement (translation) on the news:
“Black belt – Thank you God for giving us much more than we dream and deserve, everything will always be for the honor and glory of your name. Pedro Marinho already has first match as a BJJ black belt lined up, with him having entered the Third Coast Grappling 6 Grand Prix alongside some of the biggest names in the sport like Nicky Rodriguez and Kaynan Duarte. This might seem like a huge ask for a newly-promoted black belt but Marinho isn’t just anyone, he’s already competed against several elite grapplers and come out on the winning end like Gabriel Almeida at Fight 2 Win 160, or his more recent match against Matheus Luna at Fight 2 Win 163.
