The IBJJF still managed to put on the 2020 edition of the no gi Pan-Ams, although the presence of travel restrictions across many countries results in significantly less competitors than normal. Several athletes have been vocal about their displeasure with the event going ahead despite them not being physically able to attend, and understandably so. It does seem that the IBJJF have listened to those concerns though, or perhaps just reacted to reduced income from smaller events, as they’ve now cancelled both the gi and no gi versions of the 2020 World Championships.

Female / Adult / Black-Belt
Rafaela Guedes was the star of the absolute division and put on the most impressive display of any woman at the 2020 IBJJF no gi Pan-Ams, with the results speaking for themselves. As a newly-minted ATOS black belt, she has been putting in great performances every time she steps on the mats and this was no exception. She managed to submit Tara White with an Omoplata before putting up convincing victories over Gabrielle McComb and Vanessa Griffin on her way to Absolute gold.
