Both Helena Crevar and Teshya Alo will be making their ONE Championship debuts against each other at ONE Fight Night 39 on January 23rd, 2026. It’s a big way for the promotion to start the year in their submission grappling divisions too, as Crevar and Alo are both exciting competitors. It’ll definitely be an entertaining match but it’ll also have pretty big implications for the future of the ONE women’s bantamweight division. The title there is vacant and nobody has ever held it before, so the division is wide open for the taking if either Crevar or Alo can put on an impressive performance.
Crevar will obviously be the favorite given the level of success that she’s reached over the past two years, but nobody is unbeatable and Alo is an excellent grappler in her own right. Crevar has been widely-regarded as one of the top prospects in the sport for several years now and she completed her ascent to the highest level at ADCC 2024, where she won a silver medal in the under 65kg division. She became the youngest person to ever stand on the podium at the world’s most prestigious no gi grappling tournament and it meant that she was an undeniable top contender.
She also won the biggest title and biggest payday of her career at CJI 2 just a few months ago, beating ADCC double champion Adele Fornarino in the process. Although Alo hasn’t yet reached the biggest shows in the world like Crevar, she’s been consistently impressive on several smaller promotions. Most recently she was seen in the team tournament at Main Character Jiu-Jitsu 8, where her team finished in second place and she had a pair of tough matches. She’s definitely going to be a game opponent for Crevar and she’s going to leave it all on the mat in the search for an upset win and a big statement.
