This article is part of our ADCC 2022 coverage. To get live results, play by play, and commentary, we’ll have a live updates article running all weekend.

Gordon Ryan has just received the biggest public sponsorship in the history of the sport for ADCC 2022, courtesy of Bitcoin Cash. The grappling superstar will receive a whopping $100,000 sponsorship deal for his appearance at ADCC 2022 where he will make history by becoming the first person to compete in both a weightclass and the superfight at the end of the event. Naturally, if any grappler was ever going to receive a six-figure sum for representing a brand then it makes sense that it was going to be the consensus greatest no gi grappler on the planet right now.

Gordon Ryan has received sponsorship in the past and has even been on the hunt for a gi sponsor as well. Everything in the past has paled in comparison to this new deal however, and it’ll at least make up a large part of the money that he lost due to not competing much in 2021 in order to deal with his stomach issues. In the end that risk might well have paid off remarkably well however, because we might be about to see Gordon Ryan in better physical health than he has been in his career to date just in time for ADCC 2022.

This would be just in time for him to meet the biggest challenge of his career head-on, as there are several members of the playing field at ADCC 2022 that are gunning for him. That’s saying nothing of the fact that he will attempt to be the first person to dethrone Andre Galvao from his position as ADCC superfight champion, a title he will have held for almost an entire decade by the time the pair meet on the mats this year. While Ryan is the betting favorite, his victory is still far from guaranteed against a phenomenal competitor like Galvao.

The news of Gordon Ryan receiving the $100,000 Bitcoin Cash sponsorship was announced in a post to the official Instagram account of ADCC:
