UFC FightPass Invitational 3 is right around the corner and the event is due to be headlined by an epic rematch between Gordon Ryan and Vinny Magalhaes. The pair first met back in 2018 at ACBJJ 13 where Magalhaes won on points and became the last person to defeat Ryan in competition. He remains one of only four grapplers who have managed to win a match against Ryan since he became a black belt, and one of only two who he has not yet got his revenge against too. The other being the legendary Leandro Lo, who sadly lost his life earlier this year as the result of a senseless murder in Brazil.
The other two men who have beaten Ryan are Aaron ‘Tex’ Johnson and Felipe Pena, the latter having done so twice. Ryan has since beaten Johnson twice and submitted Pena in a no time-limit match to take their personal record to 2-1. Ryan will also be attempting to bring himself level with Pena in their rivalry in February 2023, when the pair meet in a fourth match between at a Who’s Number One event. If Ryan puts on the kind of displays of elite grappling that he’s known for then the next few months should see him levelling the score with two of his old foes.
Before the Gordon Ryan v Vinny Magalhaes rematch at UFC FightPass Invitational 3, there will also be a great fantastic match between Beatriz ‘Bia’ Mesquita and UFC veteran Miesha Tate. Prior to those two superfights, the event will feature an eight-man tournament in the absolute division with $25,000 on the line for the winner. As of yet there’s no news on who the eight competitors will be, but if the two superfights are anything to go by then its likely to be a stacked lineup.
