UFC veteran Kevin Holland has an opponent in mind for his next fight, and he wants a BJJ match with former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo. Holland is known for taking on all comers and he’s even taken the time out of his day to put a beating on internet trolls in the past as well. Regardless, it’s still strange to see Holland calling out Cejudo for a match. Holland has explained how the idea came about though, as he described a recent interaction that he had with Cejudo:
“We were having a little back and forth the other day. I thought me and him were cool. He said he’s reaching new heights, I said “heels”, and he started talking about my wrestling. Now, I’m up here thinking, you know what? A couple my fans had a point, I probably was picking on the only wrestler I probably can beat. Me and Henry probably walking around the same weight right now.”
While he might be telling the truth that the two men are walking around at the same weight now, they have competed in drastically different weightclasses. Kevin Holland has spent the majority of his career as a middleweight and has dropped down to welterweight, while Henry Cejudo spent the majority of his career at flyweight before moving up to take the bantamweight title. Even at their closest, there were two whole weightclasses between the men. Holland is clearly interested in a BJJ match regardless though and he even references the UFC FightPass Invitational events as a possible venue:
“I would knock Henry Cejudo the fu*k out, so good thing we’re not striking. Honestly, if we’re grappling, he probably would throw me, but just Jiu-Jitsu? If he doesn’t stay away from these chokes, I’d probably choke his a*s out. I want Cejudo in one of those big Jiu-Jitsu matches that the UFC puts on every once in a while. I would love to do that.”
