Gordon Ryan recently shared a bit of an update on his current shape and according to him, he’s currently ‘one of the fattest’ he’s ever been. Ryan has always been in incredible physical condition throughout his competitive career, regardless of whether he’s been competing at 155lbs or over 200lbs. He hasn’t been able to maintain that condition constantly though, as he’s had long periods of limited training due to various health conditions. Although the main physical difficulty throughout his career has been his recurring stomach issues, his current problems also include dealing with the aftermath of a knee injury that he suffered at ADCC 2024.

Although he won both of his superfights at ADCC 2024, he suffered the knee injury in the very first match and then had to deal with it in the second one. Ryan revealed that the injury combined with his stomach issues have had a pretty big effect on his ability to train and by extension, physical condition:

“I haven’t been able to train since ADCC so I’ve just been eating food, and being a fat guy. This is probably one of the fattest I’ve ever been. You can like hardly see my abs.”

Although he might not be in the best shape right now, Gordon Ryan seemed confident that he wouldn’t be staying at his fattest for very long. In fact, he again referenced his usage of PEDs and claimed that this would be what was going to help him get back to his former condition:

“When I start a cycle it’s gonna go right from here, right in to my shoulders so it’ll be fine.”

It’s unclear exactly when that will be of course, and if Ryan will be competing again any time soon. He doesn’t currently have any matches booked for 2025 and although he will have no shortage of willing opponents, it’s hard for matchmakers to get fans excited when someone is so dominant. One of the main selling points for any of Ryan’s matches in the near-future will likely be that any one might be the last time that fans get to see him in action. Ryan has only made it to the mats for four matches in the last two years and he recently cast doubt on whether he would be returning for ADCC 2026.

Gordon Ryan shared the update on his current shape and proclaimed that he might be at his fattest point in a recent video uploaded to his official YouTube channel:
