The ADCC Portland Open 2025 took place on February 22nd, 2025 and there was quite a few elite grapplers competing in various divisions. Kevin Crane put on a great show in the absolute bracket, submitting three of his four opponents along the way. He had to settle for a bronze medal in the under 91kg division, as he lost on points in the semi-final to the eventual champion Anthony Robinson. Aaron Tiegs took home the gold in one of the toughest brackets at under 100kg while Matt Kwan shined in the biggest bracket, submitting all five opponents on his way to the top of the podium at under 76kg.
The women’s divisions were undoubtedly the most impressive though, as some of the best grapplers in the world competed there. ADCC Trials winner Maria Ruffatto became the double champion, beating five opponents to win both the over 70kg and absolute divisions. Aislinn O’Connell was also in the running after winning all three of her matches in the under 70kg division, but she couldn’t make it to the absolute podium in the end. Andreza Morais and Amanda Bruse both won two matches to win gold at under 60kg and under 65kg respectively, while rising star Shye Lilly submitted both of her opponents to win the under 55kg division.
