Polaris 32 is right around the corner and the promotion has just announced the full lineup for both North America and Europe in their first ever women’s Squads event on June 28th, 2025. The promotion already announced the captains for both teams, and both of them are actually reigning Polaris champions in different weight classes. The under 55kg champion Ffion Davies will be leading the European competitors and Helena Crevar is taking a break from defending her under 70kg title to take charge of the North American team. Not only is that an incredibly interesting direct match, but there’s plenty of crazy combinations between the other five women in each team as well.
The biggest names stepping on the mats alongside Crevar for North America are probably Brianna Ste-Marie and Amanda ‘Tubby’ Alequin, but the rest of the team are just as talented regardless. They also have yet another ADCC veteran in Jasmine Rocha and although she isn’t as established as most of her teammates, another big threat is the young prospect Taylor Hishaw. The final member of the North American squad is the one that will be flying under the radar the most but she’s a real dark horse that could make a big impact. That woman is Alanis Santiago and although she might not be as well-known, she’s a seriously impressive grappler.
The European squad has just as much talent involved, most notably the veteran contender Margot Ciccarelli. She isn’t the only ADCC Trials winner competing alongside team captain Davies though, and most of the team have actually won that prestigious tournament before. Norwegian veteran black belt Ane Svendsen is one of them, as is Sweden’s Josefine Modig and one of the rising stars in the UK right now; Sula-Mae Lowenthal. The final member of the European squad is another Norwegian competitor and she’s also the youngest member of the team; Polaris veteran Selma Vik. There will also be the customary superfight during the half-time break of the Squads battle, and this time round it’s a lightweight title-fight between Keith Krikorian and Ashley Williams.
