Grapple Wars is one of the newest grappling promotions on the UK circuit but they’ve already put together some fantastic shows, and they decided to create an 8-man middleweight grand prix to headline their fourth event. The tournament attracted 8 top grapplers in the under 82kg division and several of them have experience competing on some of the biggest shows in Europe like Polaris. Despite the tough opposition in front of them, both Robert Diserens and Abraham Dannan managed to submit their first two opponents in order to meet one another in the final.
Diserens locked up a heel hook in the opening round before finishing his second match with a rear-naked choke, while Dannan landed a kneebar on his first opponent and caught his second with a toehold. It was always going to be a good match between these two men because both of them were in good form leading up to the final, but nobody could have predicted how entertaining the match would be. Dannan was relentlessly pursuing the submission from start to finish and Diserens was a game opponent all the way through, with several good moments of his own. Neither man got the win in regulation time so they went to EBI overtime, where Dannan scored a quick armbar in order to take home the Grapple Wars middleweight title.
