Mo Douglah and Omar Sargent faced each other in an exciting match back at the very first edition of Luta Livre that Alpha Grappling Championships staged, an event that uses a fresh take on Combat Jiu-Jitsu for it’s ruleset. The two men are both exciting coloured belt BJJ competitors and Sargent in particular had been busy embarking on a successful MMA career over the past few years leading up to the match. At the time that it took place on September 3rd, 2022, Sargent had amassed a 6-2-1 amateur record and had been doing well for himself on the regional MMA circuit in the UK.
Since Sargent took part in this gruelling match he’s actually decided to turn professional and won his debut in impressive fashion, finishing his opponent with ground and pound in the second round. Mo Douglah on the other hand is also an MMA veteran, which is why both men were more than happy to take on a grappling match with strikes allowed. It shows during the course of the match as well, as both men were throwing openhanded strikes at various different points, using them to set up both guard passes and submission attempts.
