Victory Fight Night Cardiff on October 14th, 2023, marked only the second time that the promotion had ever visited the city, and it was just as action-packed as their debut there. One particular match was one of the most exciting of the night, a battle between two talented prospects in Liam Daniels and Erik Persson. Both of these competitors left it all on the mats, and they traded top position at various points in their ten-minute match. They pushed the pace from start to finish and both had a few moments of success, but neither of them was able to find the finish before the end of regulation time.
Although both men were able to show off their skills during the match, it became clear as time wore on that Persson was able to threaten Daniels with submissions more than Daniels was able to do to him. When the time ran out and the judges were required, they leaned towards Persson thanks to the increased level of offense he was able to produce. Both of these young grapplers impressed though, and it seems likely that they’ll be given the opportunity to compete again when Victory Invitational decide to return to Cardiff in the future.
