Security footage of Craig Jones being removed from FloGrappling offices went viral just a few days ago, but the streaming platform has now revealed that the incident was completely fake. It wasn’t entirely a surprise, as many people in the BJJ community predicted that this was a marketing stunt to draw attention. Some even went a little further than that, predicting that it was the first stage of announcing that the second edition of the Craig Jones Invitational was going to be broadcast on FloGrappling. Without any official update though, it was never made undeniably clear whether the footage was real or not.
In the most recent edition of the FloGrappling show, the hosts revealed the truth:
“There’s been a lot of stuff going around on the internet about this situation. Obviously this video went super viral… On Monday, FloGrappling’s Instagram account posted a little thing showing Craig (Jones) being escorted out by security.”
Jones did really smash a framed ADCC 2022 poster while he was at their office, and they did reveal that another small element of the video was real as well:
“Craig was in handcuffs, AKA ziptied handcuffs. A lot of people saying he wasn’t, he was but the video was fake… We got you guys.”
The footage being fake wasn’t the only important piece of news that came out of the show though, as it appears that Craig Jones and FloGrappling will be working together in some fashion:
“Craig was in our office wanting to talk with Flo. Wanting to work on like a working partnership with Flo in some ways, I don’t know how much we can disclose.”
Obviously how well this is received depends entirely on the nature of their partnership. A big part of the appeal of the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational was the fact that it was broadcast for free on YouTube, and going behind the FloGrappling paywall may not be the most popular decision among fans. Although they didn’t give any specifics, the hosts did say that they should be coming out relatively soon:
”We’re trickling this stuff out, you know? There’s a lot, a lot of news gonna be coming out here in the next few weeks about our relationship with Craig. I don’t want to kinda spoil it all now.”
FloGrappling revealed that the viral footage of Craig Jones being removed from their offices by security was fake in a recent video uploaded to their official YouTube channel:
