The first BJJ Clubes Quarter-final took place on September 21st, 2024 and the brand new promotion put together a night full of fantastic results for their first event. They follow a team grappling format with 8 different teams of 7 competitors all representing different locations in Brazil. With so many teams, the promotion is separating out their two quarter-final rounds and the eventual semi-finals and final. This debut event was just the first half of the quarter-finals and it featured elite grapplers representing Fortaleza, Camboriu, Ferroviara, and Botafago. Only two teams could progress to the semi-finals and with 150,000 Brazilian Real on the line for the eventual champions, there was a lot at stake for everyone.
The first matchup was between Fortaleza and Camboriu, and there was plenty of back and forth action throughout it. Jeison Silva and Rodrigo Silva put on one of the best matches of the night, with Silva coming from behind to get the submission win in the dying seconds. It was a close match overall with both teams registering plenty of wins and it was never clear who was going to end up qualifying. In the end, both Cleidiane Ferreira and Harryson Pereira were able to win the final two matches of the night and secure the victory for Camboriu 4-3.
The second quarter-final match was between Ferrovaria and Botafago, and this one was a much more convincing win. Botafago went on a run right from the start, with Vitoria Vieira in particular standing out with a 6 second armbar finish. Welerson Goncalves won the opening match before her and Diego Sodre won the next, while Victor Marques and Pedro Machado took their lead to 5-0. Although Botafago had already secured their place in the semi-final, Tamiris Silva still came out and managed to get the first win on the board for Ferrovaria. Wilson Bueno added another in the final match of the night but it was far too late, and Botafago won 5-2.
