Ffion Davies will now be defending her flyweight title against Amanda ‘Tubby’ Alequin at Who’s Number One 22 on February 9th, 2024. Although this is the first official match that has been announced for the event, another title-fight has been verbally agreed at a previous event. Mica Galvao successfully defended his welterweight title for the first time back at Who’s Number One 21, and he immediately accepted his next challenge from Nicky Ryan during the live broadcast. Although this hasn’t been officially announced yet, both the competitors and the promotion are eager put that match on for the crowd.

Although there’s no clue as to what the rest of the matches on the card will be or the running order of them, this title-fight will definitely be one of the final few to take place. Davies initially won her title by beating Nathalie Ribeiro back in 2021, although it took her quite some time to make her first title-defense. She was very busy elsewhere though, as she became the first European to ever win gold back at ADCC 2022. Since that historic moment Davies has returned to the WNO mats and was able to make her first title-defense at WNO 19, where she won a very convincing decision against Jasmine Rocha.

Most recently, Davies was seen making history once again by becoming the first European to win both a weight class and the absolute division at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship. She’s established herself as one of the greatest female grapplers on the planet over the last few years, so naturally Alequin is going to have a tough time dethroning her. It’s not as if Alequin will be an easy match for Davies though, as she has won gold medals at both ADCC Trials and the IBJJF No Gi World Championship herself in the past.

FloGrappling announced the news that Ffion Davies would defend her flyweight title against Amanda ‘Tubby’ Alequin at Who’s Number One 22 in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
