The upcoming PFL 3 event on May 6th will feature two phenomenal grapplers making their first competitive appearance in 2021, Fabricio Werdum and Kayla Harrison. The event will also be the first of the regular PFL season for Heavyweights and Women’s Lightweights, the former being the division that Werdum once ruled as a UFC World Champion and the latter being the division that Harrison currently reigns over as PFL World Champion. This will also be the first fight that Werdum has had for the promotion, as it was only recently that he signed with PFL after deciding not to renew his contract with the UFC.
Werdum will be taking on Renan Ferreira in the headline match for his promotional debut, a Team Nogueira representative with a 6-2 professional MMA record. No doubt Ferreira will be game a opponent who will give all that he can in order to win, but Fabricio Werdum is regarded as the best Jiu-Jitsu artist in the Heavyweight division for a reason. With having the edge both in pure grappling skill and MMA experience, Werdum will be the clear favorite in his debut.
As for Morais? She’s already been submitted four times in her professional career and is coming up against a two-time Olympic gold medalist in Judo who has dominated every single opponent she’s faced in her 8-fight MMA career so far. With six finishes to her name and an incredible wealth of grappling talent, it seems incredibly likely that Harrison finishes this fight early on in the first or second round. Elsewhere on the PFL 3 card, the rest of the Heavyweight and Women’s Lightweight division will also be taking on their first fights for the 2021 season.
