Fabricio Andrey and Ashley Williams will now be making their ONE Championship debut against one another at ONE Fight Night 30 on April 4th, 2025. They will be meeting in a featherweight match and this is some truly impressive matchmaking by the promotion, as they are both among the very best in the world at that weight. Both men are multiple-time ADCC veterans so it’s actually a little surprising that they’ve never crossed paths before. It’s a hard welcome for both men but seeing as there is currently no champion in the featherweight division at ONE Championship, a win here for either man would be the start of a strong case for a title-shot.
Williams is one of the top UK grapplers of his generation and he broke out internationally after years of dominating the local scene there. In a similar fashion, Andrey was one of the top prospects training under Melqui Galvao in Brazil before he reached the highest level of the sport. They both made their ADCC debuts at the same edition in 2022 and both returned for ADCC 2024 as well, although Andrey has been a more frequent competitor at the highest level between then. Both men put on a relentless pace and are notoriously hard to submit, so that makes for an action-packed match that will likely go the distance.
Although Fabricio Andrey and Ashley Williams will obviously be laser-focused on their debut against one another, they must have one eye on the horizon as well. Diogo Reis only recently got the submission win in his ONE Championship, and he’s the man who won both of the ADCC titles that Williams and Andrey competed for. There’s even more top competitors around this weight class waiting in the wings too, as Gabriel Sousa is just coming off a win over Gianni Grippo in his second match for the promotion. This particular division is starting to look seriously impressive and it’ll be interesting to see where ONE Championship go from here.
