Enigma Invitational 12 took place on September 16th, 2023 and the welterweight tournament delivered some fantastic results at several different points. The tournament was stacked with exciting grapplers and accomplished competitors, so the matchmaking at Enigma Jiu-Jitsu really shone through when everyone took to the mats. One side of the bracket was dominated by a top up-and-coming talent, Max Hanson, who put on a series of impressive performances. Hanson won his first two matches in convincing fashion by submission in order to book a semi-final matchup with John Combs, only to submit him as well and earn a spot in the final.
The other side of the bracket saw an early upset as Harrison Woods took out the top seed Johnny Tama in the quarter-finals. Woods couldn’t make it to the final though, as he was beaten by Kieran Kichuk in the next round. Kichuk had a great run himself, as he had to beat Nick Ronan before winning against Woods and meeting Hanson in the final. Max Hanson continued his impressive form when he met Kichuk in the final though, as he managed to register another submission win and finished Enigma Invitational 12 with a perfect slate of results against top opponents.
