Enigma Jiu-Jitsu have just revealed the full lineup and seeding for a fantastic welterweight tournament that they’ve put together for Enigma Invitational 12 on September 16th, 2023. Although the promotion is still in it’s infancy, they’ve managed to stage some great events and have attracted several elite grapplers and ADCC veterans to compete in the past. Their 12th event will be no different, except that the 16 men who are involved will be competing for the promotion’s welterweight title along with a grand prize of $5,000.
The seeding has clearly been done fairly as well and although there might be some disagreement on the exact rankings of each of these competitors, it’s clear that everybody is roughly where they should be. The top seed and de facto favorite for the tournament is Johnny Tama, while Pierre-Olivier Leclerc is right behind him as the second seed. Things stay pretty close at the top of the seeding list, as anyone in the top 5 stands a good chance of walking away as the winner. John Combs, Kieran Kichuk, and Max Hanson are all fantastic competitors in their own right and are difficult for anyone to beat.
Shortly after them is Sam Kilmer and Nick Ronan, seeded at 6th and 7th respectively. There’s plenty of tough competition further down the seeding list as well though, with Harrison Woods, Caleb Crump, and Shawn Melanson finishing off the top 10. The bracket is completed by the additions of Rory Connors, Christian Vukaj, Jeff Perez, Michael Medeiros, Max Weslei, and Andrew Pardee; who are all seeded in the bottom half of the bracket. That’s not to say any of these men can’t win though, and it’ll be interesting to see if they’re able to overcome the odds and make it to the final ahead of one of the top seeds.
