The ADCC West Coast are just a little under a month away and some of the competitors who have signed up for the event have already been revealed. One of ADCC’s lead organizers, Fight 2 Win CEO Seth Daniels, has posted a screenshot to his official Instagram account that includes a list of some of the biggest names who are already signed up to compete at the event. The list includes some of the most impressive American grapplers in all seven of the available weightclasses, including the likes of Gianni Grippo, PJ Barch, William Tackett, Kyle Boehm, and Devhonte Johnson in the men’s divisions and huge names in women’s grappling like Kendall Reusing, Elisabeth Clay, Nathalie Ribeiro, and Tammi Musumeci.
This isn’t an exhaustive list either as every single weightclass at the ADCC West Coast Trials has at least half a dozen of the best competitors you can find in the States. It’s worth remembering of course that past performance doesn’t indicate future success and ADCC trials events are historically a time when anything can happen. At the first American trials on the East Coast, 16 year-old Cole Abate stormed to victory in the 66kg division. With that in mind, it’s entirely possible that one or more of the winners the seven ADCC invites up for grabs isn’t even on this list:
Additionally, Daniels also let the public in on just how jam-packed the ADCC West Coast Trials are going to be when he decided to reveal the number of athletes who have already entered in to each division. With around a month left to go before the event, there are three different divisions that are almost completely full as they break over 200 competitors. The 77kg division in particular is nearing completion as it currently stands at 236 athletes and the maximum number per division is 256. With only 20 spots remaining it’s a virtual certainty that at least one weightclass will close for entry before the event takes place.
For anyone interested in competing at the ADCC West Coast Trials, it’s important to sign up to your division as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.
