Dillon Danis has just decided to step in and defend the honor of BJJ after popular YouTuber MMA Guru proclaimed that the sport is ‘fake and gay’. Danis was at one point one of the top brown belt prospects in the world when he was training under Marcelo Garcia and although he made it all the way to ADCC, he never managed to hit the heights that many predicted back then. He only really competed at the highest level for around two years and his only major title came in 2016 when he won the IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship at medium-heavyweight.
It wasn’t long after that title that Garcia severed his ties with Danis and the latter stopped competing in the sport altogether. He then became more well-known through his work as a member of the training camp around Conor McGregor, although he did start to pursue a career as a professional MMA fighter as well. Danis signed a contract with Bellator MMA and made his debut in 2018, submitting Kyle Walker in the first round and submitting Max Humphrey in the first round of his next fight in 2019. That was the last time that Danis had an MMA fight and he was released by Bellator a few years later, allowing him to change career once again.
He made his boxing debut against Logan Paul in a match that ended in disqualification, although he hasn’t had any further fights booked in any combat sport since then. The interaction that Dillon Danis had with MMA Guru came about as a result of Kron Gracie getting knocked out by Bryce Mitchell at UFC 310. Kron pulled guard multiple times in that fight before eventually being slammed to the mat and knocked out with ground and pound, prompting MMA Guru to criticise him heavily. He signed off the statement by saying that ‘BJJ is fake and gay’ and it seems as though that particular comment is what set Danis off.
Dillon Danis was quick to respond in a post to his official Twitter account, challenging MMA Guru to a sparring match to prove how effective BJJ is:
Let’s spar live and I’ll having you screaming for your life while I teabag you. https://t.co/Skw0gzCOlM

MMA guru fired back with a response of his own, heating up the beef between the two men:
“The fact that YOU succeeded in BJJ is nothing but more proof that it’s a made-up martial art for unathletic gay nerd victims of life that can only implement it on people that don’t have any knowledge of it. I’d Boston Crab you in 3 minutes, bring it.”
