Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira will now be putting his Who’s Number One lightweight world title on the line against top contender Deandre Corbe at WNO 31 on December 5th, 2025. This is one of the best matches that the promotion could make in this division and given that some of the other potential challengers are currently signed to other promotions on exclusive contracts. This will be just the second time that Oliveira has defended the belt, after beating Keith Krikorian by decision at WNO 26. He does have a very busy schedule competing all around the world in several different events though; and as a WNO double champion he also has to defend his featherweight title.
This is a huge opportunity for Corbe to win one of the biggest titles in the sport by beating Oliveira, but it’s not entirely new ground for him. He actually won the Sapateiro lightweight world championship earlier this year and he even had to face Oliveira in the semi-final. Corbe won that match by decision and it proved to be his toughest of the night, as a few minor changes could have swung it in Pato’s favor. That match was contested under ADCC rules but WNO judges matches differently, so it’ll be interesting to see how the change in ruleset might change the outcome.
This isn’t the only title-fight booked for the event so far though, as Felipe Pena and Luke Griffith will battle it out for the vacant heavyweight title in the main event. The promotion has already confirmed that there will be even more titles on the line too, with Helena Crevar reportedly defending her featherweight title against a currently unnamed opponent. There will also be a series of other high-level matches throughout the main card and if past WNO events are anything to go by, the preliminary card will be packed full of some of the biggest rising stars in the sport today.
