Devhonte Johnson and Vinicius ‘Trator’ Ferreira have just been booked to compete in against one another in a superfight at Place of Peace Invitational 3 on August 13th, 2023. Although the promotion has only been putting together events for just a few months, they’ve already been hard at work putting together some amazing matches. In their very first event they managed to book Joao Miyao in a rare superfight appearance against Craig McDonald, a match that produced plenty of fireworks. Alongside exciting superfights, Place of Peace have also put together some great tournaments too and have already crowned both a men’s and women’s absolute champion. This next event is set to feature a series of matches between the best blue belts they can find.
Devhonte Johnson and Vinicius ‘Trator’ Ferreira have actually met on the mats twice before, with Johnson winning both of these matches by pretty small margins. It’s worth noting that these matches both took place quite a while ago in 2019 and 2020, so quite a lot has changed for both men since then. The first time they met was in the quarter-final of the absolute division at the IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship 2019, with Johnson winning 2-0 on points. Ferreira got his chance at revenge pretty soon after, when the pair met in the co-main event of Fight 2 Win 155. Unfortunately for Ferreira, Johnson won a referee decision at the event and improved his record against him to 2-0.
Since then, Johnson has reached a whole new level by winning the super-heavyweight division at the IBJJF no gi world championship 2021 and has also become an ADCC veteran. While Ferreira had already made his ADCC debut back in 2019 when he won a silver medal in the under 99kg division, he returned at ADCC 2022 to compete there for the second time. It’ll be interesting to see if Ferreira can get one back against Johnson when they meet for the third time, or if Johnson is able to put on a more dominant display than before.
Place of Peace announced the news that Devhonte Johnson v Vinicius ‘Trator’ Ferreira was booked for Place of Peace Invitational 3 in a recent post to their official Instagram account.
