Danielle Kelly just registered a huge win in her latest match for ONE Championship as she managed to submit four-time Sambo world champion Mariia Molchanova with a rear-naked choke in just a matter of minutes. The pair were set to fight in the latest battle between BJJ and Sambo that ONE Championship have put together, and Kelly really did the BJJ community proud. Kelly pulled guard very early in the match and immediately took away one of the biggest advantages that Molchanova’s Sambo experience would bring and immediately started working towards her back.
Although Molchanova tried hard to shake Kelly off her, she was only able to slow her down for a short time before Kelly sunk in the rear-naked choke and forced her to tap. This was Kelly’s second outing for ONE Championship and her first win, after she fought Mei Yamaguchi to a draw back at ONE X. Given that ONE Championship are now putting together title-fights in their submission grappling divisions, Danielle Kelly may very well have put herself in prime position to challenge for the inaugural Women’s Atomweight title with this win at ONE on Amazon Video 4.
