Dan Manasoiu is one of the top talents training under John Danaher and he’s just been booked to take on UFC veteran Roger Narvaez in the main event of Submission Hunter Pro 81 on January 22nd. Manasoiu has become well known in recent years thanks to his rapidly-developing talent and incredibly imposing size, and he’s even been taken on as one of Gordon Ryan‘s main training partners. Manasoiu is right on the verge of breaking into the very top of his weightclass, and he came a long way towards doing so when he won the ADCC European, Middle-Eastern, and African Trials in 2022.
The match against Narvaez at Submission Hunter Pro 81 will serve as Manasoiu’s first of 2023, although it’s likely going to be the first of many. While Manasoiu will no doubt have a significant technical and tactical advantage when the pair meet on the mats, Narvaez is no easy match either. Narvaez is an MMA veteran with twelve fights under his belt who has been competing on a professional level since 2011, racking up an 8-4 record since then. The peak of his career came in 2014 when he was signed to the UFC, and he completed a three-fight stint for the promotion. Narvaez went 1-2 against tough opposition, with his win coming by split decision against Luke Barnatt.
While this match will serve as the main event, Submission Hunter Pro will also be hard at work putting together a supporting card full of exciting grapplers. Each of their events usually has somewhere in the region of forty matches ranging throughout all of the belt levels, giving local grapplers a chance to compete alongside elite talents.
