Damien Anderson is one of the top competitors training out of B-Team Jiu-Jitsu and he has just decided to open the team’s very first affiliate gym in New Jersey. It’s no doubt going to be an incredibly busy time for Anderson, as he’s also gearing up to make his MMA debut at Fury FC 73 on January 29th as well. Anderson isn’t actually opening the gym entirely from scratch however, as he’s been coaching for quite some time already. He started out teaching out of a Muay Thai gym originally but he’s come a remarkably long way since then.
It’s not just Anderson either, the whole B-Team Jiu-Jitsu team has grown dramatically since they first opened up shop just a little over a year ago. It looked like it might be a difficult time for the sport’s best athletes originally when the Danaher Death Squad broke upon their return from Puerto Rico, but the break-up and subsequent reformation into B-Team and New Wave Jiu-Jitsu has paid dividends to both teams. Not only did B-Team managed to field several competitors at ADCC 2022 but they also managed to leave with a few medals as well.
Anderson himself actually served as the official alternate for the 66kg division at the event, although there were no last-minute injuries or bad weight-cuts so he wasn’t called upon. He hasn’t slowed down since then either, as Anderson represented B-Team in the Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds Team Duel and helped his team to second place at the event. He has a wealth of experience competing at the highest levels of the sport and is still very much in the prime of his career, so will continue to develop over the years while he brings that experience and knowledge to coaching at B-Team Jiu-Jitsu New Jersey.
The news that Damien Anderson was due to open the first B-Team Jiu-Jitsu affiliate gym in New Jersey was announced in a post to his official Instagram account:
