The Combat Jiu-Jitsu Bantamweight World Championship 2023 took place on July 30th, 2023 and the results really do speak for themselves. The promotion put together one of the most stacked lineups in the history of the Combat Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, with multiple CJJ champions and elite competitors. There were several great moments throughout the night, and both sides of the bracket provided plenty of surprises. Zack Schneider turned in a series of great performances to win his first three matches and book a place in the final, beating all three of his opponents in EBI overtime.
While Schneider definitely improved his standings with a great performance, it was the other side of the bracket that where a new talent emerged. Dorian Olivarez is a 17 year-old blue belt from B-Team Jiu-Jitsu who immediately staked his claim as a top contender in the tournament. He put on an incredibly high pace throughout every single match and submitted his first two opponents in dominant fashion. He came up against Richard Alarcon in the semi-final and after a tough back-and-forth match, he got the win in EBI overtime over the former CJJ world champion. Another brilliant submission win in the final against Schneider saw him take home the title and become the youngest champion in the Combat Jiu-Jitsu World Championship history.
