The Catch Wrestling World Championship 2024 took place on September 7th, 2024 and it was once again hosted by the famous Snake Pit gym in England. The tournament attracted a wide range of experienced competitors from MMA veterans to no gi grapplers and wrestlers. When the dust settled on the event, several of the men and women competing reached the top of the podium and are now able to call themselves Catch Wrestling world champions. With the sport steadily growing in popularity, every edition of the world championship attracts even more competitors and key figures like Josh Barnett and Owen Livesey are clearly inspiring the next generation of catch wrestlers.
Talented young wrestler Harry Meadows won the under 59kg division and the British Catch Wrestling champion Giovani De Clemente upgraded to a world title at under 63kg. Connor Bishop and Leo Hawthorne put on one of the best matches of the night in the under 68kg final, but it was Bishop who emerged victorious in the end. The under 74kg division saw the return of reigning champion Finlay Marshall, who won the tournament for the second year in a row. The under 82kg division was one of the most stacked of the entire event, and it was reigning champion Tom Higgins who emerged victorious.
The under 90kg division saw another two-time champion crowned as well, as Brett Pfar won the title for the US once again. Angel Verduzco delivered the exact same results as well, bringing his second Catch Wrestling World Championship title back to the US alongside Pfar. The final men’s division was won by another American, as three-time All-American veteran wrestler Michael Kroells won gold at over 100kg. There were more women competing than every before as well, with Bo Geibe and Briana Kellin taking titles back to the US at under 74kg and under 68kg respectively. Under 55kg was the lightest women’s division available, and Bryony Tyrell won the title there for Australia.
