Bruno Malfacine, one of the most successful IBJJF competitors in history and one of the best lighter-weight competitors to ever grace the mats, has just opened up a new gym. Malfacine has been training and competing under Alliance founder and recently promoted Coral Belt, Fabio Gurgel, for a long time and he will continue his relationship with the team by representing them at the new location in Orlando, Florida.
Bruno Malfacine will bring an incredible level of experience and coaching expertise to the sunshine state as he is one of only three men to win ten or more IBJJF World Championships, alongside Roger Gracie and Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida. What makes the feat even more remarkable for Malfacine is that both of the other men who have achieved it, did so by winning several absolute titles among their medal haul. Malfacine racked up his ten golds over ten different tournaments spanning an incredible total of twelve years and a remarkable record of five consecutive victories after 2014.
He hasn’t competed much in recent years, only entering the 2019 World Championships and losing a close contest to Mikey Musumeci in the Semi-Finals and bowing out in the opening round of the 2020 European Championships. With his competitive career slowing down as he approaches his mid-thirties, it makes sense that Bruno Malfacine would choose to open his own gym now and instead focus on developing the next generation of killers to represent Alliance.
The grand opening of the new Alliance gym in Orlando, Florida was announced on their official Instagram account.
