The brand new BJJ training camp, Journey: Costa Rica, has just been announced for April 9th to 13th, 2026 and elite competitor Ffion Davies will be the head coach for it. It’s intended to be the first of many exciting training experiences brought to the world by Beyond The Mat Jiu-Jitsu, with several more locations planned for the future. The idea is to blend together high level training with everything that makes it possible, like enhanced recovery and the kind of beautiful location that leaves you feeling refreshed and re-energised. Coupled with finding a community of like-minded Jiu-Jitsu enthusiasts, it has everything you need to really immerse yourself in the experience.
Costa Rica is a truly beautiful place and this camp will be taking place on the incredible Sugar Beach, which is one of the most unique locations in the country. The camp includes incredible oceanfront accommodation that provides the perfect balance between modern comfort and the natural environment. Every ticket to the camp includes a 4-night stay and full access to the sauna, gym, and cold plunge alongside breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day too. There’s also daily Yoga and breathwork classes alongside the instruction and rolling; in order to help attendees prepare their body for a day of Jiu-Jitsu.
There’s plenty of time to focus on Jiu-Jitsu too, with an impressive 20 hours of open mat time available across all five days. That provides ample time for everyone to really cement in the knowledge shared by Davies, who will be teaching 3 long classes and taking part in Q & A sessions after each one. Davies is one of the most successful competitors in the world right now too, so everything she teaches has been tested at the highest level of the sport. Davies is an ADCC world champion and multiple-time IBJJF world champion, and she’s already operating as the head instructor at ARMA BJJ in London.
Journey: Costa Rica is also partnering with Fuji mats to provide the best possible training environment for attendees, while Voli Wellness will be working hard to keep everyone hydrated and energized throughout the camp. The whole experience is rolled in to one all-inclusive package so that literally everything is taken care of from the moment you set foot in the camp. With prices set at $3,500 for a single room and $6,500 for a double room, it provides excellent value for money given what’s included. It’s limited to just 20 participants in order to keep it an intimate experience, so there only a limited number of spaces left!
