BJJ Stars 11: Women’s Heavyweight Grand Prix took place on September 9th, 2023 and the tournament delivered some fantastic results for the fans. Gabrieli Pessanha continued her run of dominance as she beat all three of her opponents on the night in order to claim the title. She beat both Carina Santi and Melissa Stricker without conceding a single point in order to book her place in the final, while Yara Soares won two tough matches against Mikaela Barros and Tayane Porfirio. Pessanha landed her first submission of the night against Soares in the final, securing a straight ankle-lock and the grand prize of 100,000 Brazilian Real.
The superfights were just as entertaining and one of the highlights came from Piter Frank, who managed to land a beautiful flying armbar to submit Caio Almeida. That wasn’t the only great superfight booked for the event though, as the lineup was full of elite grapplers. The only other finish came from Isaque Bahiense, as he managed to secure the back and sink in a clean choke against Matheus Spirandeli. There were several other great moments though, particularly when Uanderson Ferreira got a big upset win over Andy Murasaki by an incredibly narrow margin.
