Pit Submission Series 7 will take place on July 25th, 2024 and the card will feature a series of matches involving the biggest stars from both MMA and BJJ. They will be moving back to three matches for PSS 7 after dropping down to just two matches for their 6th event. The first match on the card will be the only one involving two elite BJJ competitors and it’s the one that will probably attract the most attention from grappling fans. ADCC veteran Patrick Gaudio will be making his promotional debut and he will be facing a tough challenge from another incredibly experienced competitor, Diego Ramalho.
That battle between Gaudio and Ramalho is actually a rematch that is almost a decade in the making, as the two men first met on the mats all the way back in 2016. Gaudio won that match by submission with a triangle choke but a lot has changed since then, and both men have developed entirely new skillsets. The second match also features one of the top heavier competitors in the world right now, Roosevelt Sousa, and he will be facing UFC veteran Alexandr Romanov. Although Romanov obviously focuses on his professional MMA career, he’s no stranger to grappling matches either.
Sousa will be the favorite going into the match of course but Romanov has racked up 9 submission wins over the course of his career and will be very tough to beat. That will lead into the final match of the night, which is also the only one between two MMA veterans. Aljamain Sterling will be returning to professional grappling once again, and the former UFC bantamweight champion will be facing top Bellator prospect Jay Jay Wilson. While Wilson isn’t as well known as Sterling, he’s a very talented fighter and will be eager to take advantage of the opportunity against one of the biggest names in the sport.
