BJ Penn has run in to trouble with law enforcement yet again, as he was arrested by Hawaii Island Police on September 15th, 2025. This is just the latest in a long run of issues that Penn has had with the legal system, and he has once again been released on bail. According to an announcement on social media by the Police Department, his bail was set at $2,000 and he was able to post that shortly afterward. Although the exact details surrounding his arrest are still unclear, they revealed that he has been charged with ‘violating a court order for protection’.
Hilo Patrol Officers reportedly responded to a report of a violation at 4:03pm on September 15th, 2025; where they ‘determined that Penn had entered a property in violation of the terms of a court order for protection in which he is the respondent.’ He was located and arrested without incident later that same day, and his bail was set and posted on the following day. Penn has been arrested multiple times over the last few years, although most of these incidents have been unrelated to each other. Lately however, there have been several troubling issues reported about Penn and his latest encounters with law enforcement.
He was arrested by multiple officers just a few months ago and reportedly charged with charge listed as “Abuse family or household member: offensive physical contact”. His mother later filed for a restraining order against him and made some very concerning allegations as part of it. Among other issues, she claimed that he “placed duct tape on my video cameras to block video camera and placed glue into my deadbolt on my bedroom door to stop me from entering my bedroom.” There is however no confirmation yet on whether Penn’s latest arrest is related to that previous arrest and restraining order filing.
The Hawaii County Police reported that BJ Penn had been arrested again in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
