Former UFC Lightweight world champion Benson Henderson’s wife Maria Henderson just made her promotional debut at Bellator 268 and came out victorious in the very first round. This marks only her second amateur MMA fight after she won her first in February at LFA 100 against another debutante. She faced Collette Santiago in the very first fight of the night, and wasted no time at all in locking up a rear-naked choke that earned her the win.
Benson himself was also fighting later on in the night on the main card against former Bellator Lightweight world champion Brent Primus, but he wasn’t able to replicate the same success. He showcased some of the same phenomenal grappling that he’s been known for throughout his professional MMA career, but Primus had the advantage from start to finish and won a unanimous decision on the judge’s scorecards.
