Patrick Gaudio and Beatriz “Bia” Mesquita have just announced that they will be tying the knot after Gaudio got down on one knee to propose. They will now join the likes of Andre and Angelica Galvao or Lauri and Elvira Karppinnen as the latest in a long line of BJJ power couples. It’s surprisingly common for BJJ competitors to gravitate towards each other, after all, a mutual interest or career is a great foundation for a strong relationship.

The couple are both elite grapplers at the very top of the game, and both are ADCC veterans with Mesquita having won in 2017 and Gaudio reached the quarter-finals in both his weight and absolute division in 2019. Most recently, Gaudio was seen competing at BJJ Stars 4 where he edged out a close victory on advantages over Devhonte Johnson. Mesquita actually competed at that very same event and she managed to put up a slightly more convincing win over Thamara Ferreira, taking the victory on points.

Both Bia Mesquita and Patrick Gaudio announced the news on their respective official Instagram accounts just the other day. Our congratulations go out to the happy couple!

“May God bless us and all our plans come true. We took another step of our love, I love you. Plans for more than 10 years and everything happening with a lot of intensity. Being happy and living away from any negativity.”
