Before the long-awaited battles of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship, which will have its debut edition next Friday, October 20th, the athletes on the card had to go through their first challenge today: the dreaded scales. The ADXC 1 stars put their diets and training to the test this Thursday, October 19th, and confirmed their presence in the cage, which will be set up at the Mubadala Arena, in Abu Dhabi. Among the highlights on the scales, we had welterweights Neiman Gracie and Benson Henderson, who, after weighing 84kg and 80kg respectively, saved their spots in the ADXC middleweight division.

“I’m feeling amazing to put on a show tomorrow. It’ll be the best fight of the night, for sure” says a confident Neiman Gracie, who’ll be leading the No gi Main Event against Benson Henderson. Meanwhile, Bendo was feeling pretty thrilled with the chance to put his black belt to good use in the ADXC cage. “It’s amazing to have Abu Dhabi bringing Jiu-Jitsu to the main stage. I can’t wait, I’m ready to have some fun.”

In the Gi Main Event, Isaque Bahiense and Gustavo Batista took advantage of the limit margin in the under-90kg division to go a little above the cut, but still got the all-clear for the duel. “I’ll be seeking that submission bonus tomorrow”, Bahiense said after the weigh-in. “I’m an animal and as soon as I step inside that cage, I’ll be taking off the leash.” Countering his rival’s fiery passion with a calm and collected demeanor, Gustavo Batista stated: “I’m excited for tomorrow, it’ll be a great battle. I’ll be looking for the submission at all times.”

Other highlights of the weigh-ins were the duel between Tayane Porfirio and Giovanna Jara, competing in the 94kg division, with Porfirio weighing 93.9kg, and Jara coming with 11kg less, closing with 82.9kg on the scale. For the duel between Jonnatas Gracie and Natan Chueng in the 84kg division, Gracie weighed in at 83.7kg against Chueng’s 80.4kg, ending the measurement with an intense staredown for the crowd.
