Elite grappler Jena Bishop just earned the biggest opportunity of her MMA career so far, as she has now booked her place in the PFL Flyweight Championship Final 2025. Bishop had reached the highest level of grappling by competing at ADCC 2019, before making her transition to MMA. She was flawless for the first few years, racking up a 6-0 professional record competing for LFA and Bellator. She moved to PFL after that and although she wasn’t able to make it to the final in her first year, it looks 2025 might be her year. She started out strong with a decision win over Kana Watanabe a few months ago, so she was riding a lot of momentum already.
She faced Ekatarina Shakalova at PFL 6 on June 21st, 2025 and it was immediately clear that Bishop had the grappling advantage. She took Shakalova down and took her back early in the round, but Shakalova escaped before she could finish the rear-naked choke. Bishop threatened an armbar off her back and then attacked her opponent’s legs relentlessly, clearly winning the first round. Bishop hit a picture-perfect sequence in the second round, taking Shakalova down and quickly passing in to mount. She landed strikes from there and moved to the back, sinking in a rear-naked choke for the finish. She will now face the legendary Liz Carmouche in the final, as she defeated Elora Dana in her semi-final match later in the evening.
