The ADCC Monterrey Open 2024 took place on February 24th, 2024 and several elite competitors traveled from all around Mexico and even further beyond in order to compete at the event. There weren’t many women’s divisions available at the event due to a lower turnout of female competitors, so only two weight classes and the absolute division were available. That didn’t worry Jessica Crane too much, as she competed in all three brackets and came away with two gold medals. She won two matches in each of the regular weight classes to win them, but lost in the opening round of the absolute and didn’t earn a medal there.
There were some great performances in the men’s divisions too, with several Mexican competitors standing on the podium in both the advanced divisions and the less experienced brackets. There were some elite grapplers from further away winning brackets too, most notably in the under 83kg division where top 10th Planet representative Kyle Chambers won gold. Blake Williams put in the most impressive work of the day though, as he beat a total of 7 different opponents across both the under 100kg and absolute divisions in order to win both.
