After the success of the first ADCC Mexico Open at the beginning of the year, the promotion has now announced 3 more Mexico Opens in their 2023 schedule. ADCC is really pushing their open events hard over the coming months, allowing competitors from all around the world the chance to test themselves under the unique ADCC ruleset. It’s a great idea really because the ADCC world championships only come around every two years and there are only eight trials events leading up to that, with most athletes only able to compete in two of them.

Now that there are more ADCC Opens available, grapplers are able to get multiple opportunities to compete under the ruleset and familiarise themselves with the style and pacing that best suits it. As an added benefit, ADCC agreed a deal with UFC Fight Pass for exclusive streaming rights and managed to include open tournaments in it. This means that the athletes competing are also given a huge chance to get their name out there by having video footage of their performances available. Not just that though, it also means that there’s a huge amount of competition footage available on potential opponents and match-winning tactics as well.

This drive to push ADCC Open events is likely going to pay off for the promotion in the long run. When it comes to see ADCC 2024, the competitors at the event will have more experience under the ruleset than ever before and will have a greater knowledge of each other’s tactical preferences too. There’ll be a lot more footage for both ADCC and the UFC to use in promotional efforts as well, which will only attract even more attention to a tournament that is already the most prestigious no gi grappling event on the planet.

The 3 ADCC Mexico Opens in the 2023 schedule are as follows:

  • ADCC Tijuana/Rosarito Open – July 1st, 2023
  • ADCC Mexico City Open – September 16th, 2023
  • ADCC Monterrey Open – December 2nd, 2023

ADCC announced the news that they would be staging 3 more Mexico Opens in 2023 along with the schedule of events in a post to their official Instagram account:
