ACBJJ 16 took place on June 19th, 2025 and the promotion came back with a bang. They put together a fun no gi grand prix and a gi grand prix that had some of the best in the world competing, all before four excellent superfights. Russian MMA veteran Lom Ali Eskiev looked fantastic in the no gi tournament, getting a submission win and two solid decision wins over tough opponents to win the title. The gi tournament was much closer though, and the level of talent was so high that it made it tough to predict who was going to win beforehand.
Matheus Felipe kicked things off with an upset win over Roosevelt Sousa, catching him with an ankle-lock that appeared to result in an injury. He didn’t stop there either, as he beat Roman Lukashevich on points in the semi-final and submitted Felipe Bezerra with a tight bow and arrow choke to finish off the night on a high. After that it was time for the superfights, and Thalison Soares was up first against Andrew Soares for the vacant under 60kg title. It was a difficult matchup and neither man could find the finish, but Thalison got the decision win and the belt wrapped around his waist.
Marcio Andre put the promotion’s under 75kg title on the line against Dante Leon after that and it was a fantastic performance by Leon, who outscored him to win on points. Then in the co-main event there was no belt up for grabs, but it was the match with the two biggest stars. MMA legends Chris Weidman and Hector Lombard engaged in a grinding battle that got out of hand in the end, with Lombard being disqualified for strikes. The final match of the night saw Roberto Jimenez become the new under 85kg champion as he beat Bruno Lima on points for the vacant belt.
