The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour – Dallas 2024 took place on September 29th, 2024 and the results saw several incredible grapplers standing on top of the podium. There was a good mixture between established veterans and surprising underdogs winning gold, making for some exciting viewing. Bruno Sena in particular stood out when he won the roosterweight division, while the women’s middleweight division was won by teenage rising star Giovanna Carneiro. These were the two who gained the most by taking home gold medals at the tournament, but there was tough matches in every division even for the most experienced competitors.
Yuri Hendrex and Israel Almeida won the light-featherweight and lightweight divisions respectively, with both of them having to win quite a few matches in order to do so. The next two weight classes were probably the most stacked with top talent though, with Jefferson Goteu winning welterweight and Jonnatas Gracie emerging victorious at middleweight. The heaviest divisions available were won by equally big names too, starting with Fellipe Andrew winning gold at light-heavyweight. Felipe Bezerra finished the day as the super-heavyweight champion and rounded out the men’s weight classes, beating a series of three top competitors in order to do so.
The smallest women’s weight classes were at either end of the range, with both the roosterweight and heavyweight divisions had 4 competitors in them. Diana Teixeira was the champion in the lightest weight class, while Yara Soares was the woman who managed to win in the heaviest. The two remaining divisions were won by elite grapplers who managed to beat back incredible brown belt prospects in their respective finals, as Maria Delahaye beat Ashlee Funegra on points at light-featherweight and Julia Alves won by getting the final score in a very close match against Sarah Galvao at lightweight.
