The ADCC Sao Paulo Open 2025 took place on February 15th, 2025 and the event produced plenty of memorable moments. As always with the Brazilian ADCC Opens, Melqui Galvao brought an impressive team of young competitors who took the mats by storm. Nowhere else was this more apparent than in the men’s under 76kg division, where all three spots on the podium were taken by members of his team. Kaua Gabriel won all five of his matches by submission to take gold, including the two he had against his teammates. Teenage blue belt Julio Martins and top contender Nikolas Souza both went 3-1 in the same bracket, leaving with silver and bronze medals respectively.

Ana Queiroz also represented the team well, beating elite black belt Julia Alves in the final of the under 60kg division to win gold. Evellyn Azevedo was the final champion from Galvao’s team and she was flawless, winning both her matches by submission at under 55kg. Young black belt Rafael Trabuco submitted 5 opponents to win the absolute division, but he lost in the opening round at under 100kg to the eventual champion Elioenai Braz. A pair of UFC veterans made appearances too, with Jessica Andrade going 2-2 and taking bronze medals at under 70kg and in the absolute. Karol Rosa fared better as she went 5-1 and won the absolute, but she lost to blue belt Agatha Nigro in the final at over 70kg.
