UFC featherweight Blake Bilder has recently come under fire for taking on a ‘street fighter’ at his gym, choosing to knock out and choke out the man twice each. Anyone who has been around MMA gyms for long enough has probably had a similar experience, where a largely untrained person comes in to challenge a coach or professional fighters. It never ends well for them, for obvious reasons, and there’s plenty of examples of this happening over the years. The man in the video with builder clearly doesn’t have any real martial arts experience or training, as evidenced by the fact that he wore jeans for their sparring match.

Bilder on the other hand is a veteran MMA fighter, having had his first amateur fight over a decade ago now. He amassed a 7-0 amateur record from 2012 to 2016, and quickly racked up a 6-0-1 professional record on the regional MMA circuit before getting called up to Dana White’s Contender Series. He won his fight there by submission and earned a UFC contract, where he has since gone 1-2 and brought his total record to 8-2-1. Bilder has vastly more experience as a fighter than the majority of people ever will and is still an active competitor too, meaning he had a massive technical advantage over his opponent.

There are plenty of examples of professional fighters restraining criminals or other violent men and with a significant technical advantage, it’s possible to do so without causing any real damage to the opponent. There’s also plenty of examples of fighters choosing to render their opponents unconscious instead, either through striking or with submissions. Bilder chose to go the latter route, and was willing to oblige the ‘street fighter’ when he wanted to continue with the UFC veteran even after going unconscious. In total, Bilder knocked him out twice and choked him unconscious twice, using an arm-triangle choke and a triangle choke.

UFC veteran Blake Bilder shared the footage of him choking out and knocking out a ‘street fighter’ in a recent post to his official Instagram account and it has since been spread all across social media:

Turns out that this guy is called Blake Bilder and he's in the UFC and has lost his last 2 fights. I'll be rooting for him to lose his next fight and get cut, this is embarrassing to do as a pro fighter. pic.twitter.com/rwS8Z8n4NP
