Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter, recently shared some footage of her training in Jiu-Jitsu. It’s far from the first time that she’s let the public in on the fact that she’s fallen in love with the sport over the last few years, but it is the first time that footage has emerged. It was a little under a year ago that she first revealed that she had started training Jiu-Jitsu, with her whole family actually joining in. Just like many other celebrities, Trump and the rest of her family all started training under the Valente brothers and it appears as though they’re still with them today.
She started training with her daughter Arabella originally, before eventually bringing in both her sons and her husband as well. It seems as though the hard work has paid off for Ivanka Trump, as it looks as though she is wearing a blue belt in the recent footage of her in Jiu-Jitsu. She wouldn’t be the only member of the Trump family to progress past white belt either, as her niece and nephew were promoted to grey belt by Marcelo Cohen late last year. It seems as though the whole family is taking the sport fairly seriously, bringing Jiu-Jitsu very close to the US presidency.
Not since the days of Theodore Roosevelt have Jiu-Jitsu practitioners been so close to the White House, and it’ll be interesting to see if this is reflected in any policies over the next few years. In the meantime, fans of the sport can see Ivanka showing off some of the techniques that she’s learned from the Valente brothers. She demonstrated a few classic submissions like the armbar and americana, along with a few that are far less likely to happen in competition. She also demonstrated some knife-defense, which is something that the older members of the Gracie family historically focused on more.
The Valente brothers shared the footage of Ivanka Trump displaying her Jiu-Jitsu skills in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
