Vagner Rocha will now become the next person to challenge for the UFC BJJ welterweight title, as he has just been booked against Andrew Tackett at UFC BJJ 7 on April 2nd, 2026. This will serve as the main event of the evening, even though there are already two other title-fights scheduled. Carlos Henrique and Aurelie Le Vern will be defending their titles against Lucas Valente and Brianna Ste-Marie, with the Henrique vs Valente match being slotted in as the co-main event. There will also be several other high-profile matchups leading up to those title-fights of course, featuring elite competitors like Nicholas Meregali and Adele Fornarino.
This welterweight title-fight is certainly going to be an interesting one, as Rocha and Tackett have distinctively different styles. Tackett is known for explosive offense and maintaining a high pace from start to finish, which tends to wear his opponents down and cause them to make more mistakes as the match progresses. Tackett often scores takedowns early and his rapid-fire loose passing style allows him to get through even the best guards in the world at this weight. When the mistakes do start to come, that’s when he finds the finish and his specialty is taking the back and sinking in the choke.
Rocha on the other hand has a slower and more steady output in his matches, but he also wears his opponents down over time. He does it with a gritty wrestling style that makes him very difficult to take down and tires his opponents out with heavy collar ties. He almost always makes sure that the match goes to the ground on his terms, where he’s very tough to submit and has exhausting pressure passing. Rocha definitely has a path to victory but it requires him to force Tackett to play at his pace, whereas Tackett will be creating scrambles and attempting to push the pace as much as he can.
