It seems as though Kron Gracie will no longer be fighting in the UFC, as the promotion has officially removed him from their roster. This means that they will no longer have a member of the Gracie family fighting for them, once again ending (or at least pressing pause on) the oldest relationship in MMA. Kron has spent half of his professional career fighting for the UFC, 4 fights in total since he made his promotional debut in 2019. It’s not entirely surprising that Kron won’t be fighting in the UFC any more though really, as his run hasn’t been all that successful.
Kron came in to the UFC with a perfect 4-0 record with 4 submission finishes, 3 of which were in RIZIN FF. The last two fights he had there were against pretty big names too, as he beat Japanese MMA legends Hideo Tokoro and Tatsuya Kawajiri. That impressive start to his career coupled with his status as an elite BJJ competitor prior to MMA meant that there was a ton of hype around Kron back then. He even submitted veteran fighter Alex Caceres in his UFC debut and although his striking hadn’t been properly tested at that point, he still came out of that fight looking a top prospect.
Kron lost a decision in his next fight to Cub Swanson and the lacklustre performance did not do him any favours, but it was the four-year layoff afterward that really slowed down his run. He dropped another decision to Charles Jourdain at UFC 288 in his comeback, but at least he chose not to stay away from the octagon for anywhere near as long this time around. It still took over a year for him to get back in action, but this time he suffered the first knockout loss of his career against Bryce Mitchell at UFC 310. With a 1-3 UFC record and riding a three-fight losing streak, Kron Gracie will now have to find his next challenge elsewhere.
