UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9 took place on December 5th, 2024 and the promotion put together an excellent card that delivered plenty of fun results for the fans. It was a big moment for them too, as the main event was the first match of Mikey Musumeci’s new exclusive contract. The night was a bit of a slow burn to begin with, as the first two matches of the card went to a decision. Top B-Team Jiu-Jitsu competitor Damien Anderson changed all that though, as he locked up the first submission of the night when he finished Sandrey Silva with a rear-naked choke.
Maggie Grindatti followed suit with a slick heel hook in the very next match, marking a very successful return to the highest level of BJJ competition. Ryan Aitken beat Gabriel Almeida on points before Raquel Canuto continued her impressive run on the UFC Fight Pass Invitational mats with another submission win. The next two submissions came from Ronaldo Junior and Jonnatas Gracie, as they both locked up D’arce chokes against their respective opponents. That led straight into the co-main event of the evening, and that was one of the most hotly-anticipated matches of the entire UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9 card.
Jason Nolf was making the next step in his Jiu-Jitsu career by facing Renato Canuto, although he wasn’t able to beat Canuto at his own game in the end. The match went into overtime in order to determine a winner and it was a very thin margin, as Canuto won by a single penalty. Then in the main event, Mikey Musumeci was able to beat Felipe Machado although it wasn’t quite as much of a dominant performance as fans might be used to seeing from him. Machado stayed in the match the whole way through, but Musumeci was able to score the only points in order to win by decision.
