UFC BJJ are really hitting the ground running now, as the promotion have just announced another 3 events to finish their 2025 schedule. The first of these next events, UFC BJJ 2, will take place in just a few weeks’ time on July 31st and that will be quickly followed up by events on October 2nd and December 11th. There’s no official news on what matches will take place at these events yet, but Mikey Musumeci has revealed that he plans on defending his bantamweight title against Geo Martinez at their third event. Outside of that, the promotion has yet to crown champions in the majority of their weight classes and will likely look to do so soon.
Season 1 of UFC BJJ: Road to the Title saw the promotion bringing together 16 elite grapplers to crown their inaugural champions at lightweight and welterweight, with the finals taking place at UFC BJJ 1 right before Musumeci became the bantamweight champion. Assuming they plan on using the same divisions that they currently do for MMA, that means that there are 5 more belts up for grabs in the men’s divisions and at least 3 for women too. It isn’t clear yet whether they’re going to stick with the reality show format or not, but they don’t have much time left to start announcing the cast if they are.
Early signs indicate that the reality show was a success, but they may just choose to stick to regular events instead. The UFC is the biggest combat sports promotion in the world with hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal, so they can really make a huge difference to a sport if they get behind it. Dana White already announced that they were investing over 10 million dollars into Jiu-Jitsu in 2025 and that amount of money could have a massive impact. It was just last year that a mystery benefactor decided to put up $3 million for the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational and that single event changed the landscape of the sport in several different ways.
