The ADCC Petropolis Open 2025 took place on May 31st, 2025 and there was some remarkable talent on display in Brazil. As always for these events, the young grapplers representing Melqui Galvao really shone through by beating some veteran competitors. 17 year-old Galvao product Guilherme Rolim put in an excellent performance by winning 5 straight matches to take home gold at under 76kg. Then at 70kg, relatively fresh Galvao black belt Kaua Gabriel submitted three of his four opponents to stand on top of the podium. There was another impressive youngster at 65kg; as 18 year-old blue belt Guilherme Andrade also registered three of his four wins by submissions.

The lightest division saw one of the best performances of the whole day though, as Daniel Amorim actually competed in both the intermediate and advanced divisions at 60kg and was able to submit all five of his opponents along the way to double gold. Judo and BJJ black belt Bruno Teixeira achieved a similar feat in his own weight class at under 91kg, as he managed to find the finish in all three of his matches to win gold there. Elite grappler Elioenai Braz also finished the day with a perfect 100% finishing rate, submitting both his opponents in the under 100kg division.

The only heavier division than that also featured some pretty big names in the sport, as Pedro Alex made an appearance and ended up beating Luis Oliveira by decision in a very tough final match. The 83kg division played host to an interesting battle too, as Peruvian BJJ black Belt Lucas Torres and Bellator veteran Jefferson Pontes both submitted three opponents to make it to the final against one another. Torres scored the only points of that match to win gold though. The men’s absolute division featured a surprise too, as masters competitor Raphael Nobrega cleaned house with four submissions in four matches to win that. The women’s divisions were pretty quiet at the highest level, and most of them only featured two competitors.
